In India, sending commercial or transactional Bulk SMS without DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration is completely prohibited. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) mandates that every business entity must register on a DLT platform to prevent spam and verify sender identities.
Step 1: Choose a DLT Portal
You can register on any of the telecom operators portals. They all sync with each other, so you only need to register on one platform. Popular portals include:
- Jio DLT (trueconnect.jio.com)
- Vodafone Idea DLT (vilpower.in)
- Airtel DLT (dltconnect.airtel.in)
- BSNL DLT (sancharconnect.bsnl.co.in)
Step 2: Register your Business Entity
Select "Enterprise" or "Principal Entity" registration. You will need to upload registration documents such as PAN card, GST registration certificate, Certificate of Incorporation, and a signed Authorization Letter on your company letterhead.
Step 3: Register Headers (Sender IDs)
Once your Principal Entity is approved, log in and go to the "Header Management" section. Register your desired 6-character alphabetic sender ID (e.g. BLKSMS). Ensure the header directly matches your brand or registered trade name.
